All electrical products, lithium-ion batteries and protective devices entering South Korea need to be marked with the KC mark to enter the South Korean market. The certification method divides the applied products into 3 categories:
1) Safety certification
      Need product test + factory inspection
      Scope: wires and cables, electrical switches, capacitors and power filters, electrical equipment components and connecting parts, electrical protection components, transformers, household appliances, power tools, information technology and office equipment, lighting equipment, electrical products connected to DC power supply devices
2) Self-discipline and safety confirmation
      Product testing is required, no factory inspection is required, valid period: 5 years, reapplication is required after 5 years
      Scope: electrical switches, insulation transformers, electrical equipment, audio and video application equipment, information technology and office equipment, lighting equipment, electrical products connected to DC power supply devices
3) Confirmation of supplier suitability
     The manufacturer/importer conducts product testing on its own products and then confirms the safety of the product. The certification body does not issue a KC certificate, and the manufacturer/importer must write a supplier’s suitability confirmation.
     The manufacturer/importer needs to keep the test report for 5 years.
